DON'T BE A VICTIM OF CHEAP BEAUTY!
What
should you check before entrusting someone with your beauty and
health?
Read before visiting dubious beauty clinics or
suspiciously cheap laser hair removal salon!
SPECIALIST QUALIFICATION
Is the specialist who provides the service registered in the register of medical practitioners and medical treatment support persons? https://registri.vi.gov.lv/rap
Is code M56 (selective photothermolysis and ablative laser surgery) assigned to the specialist providing the service? This code allows you to perform procedures with high-power laser devices, including laser hair removal. https://lema.lv/doctors/
Why is this important?
During laser hair removal, a high-energy device - a laser - is used. Laser hair removal may only be performed by appropriately trained medical personnel. If the laser device is used incorrectly or does not correspond to the parameters of the particular client, the effectiveness of the procedure decreases, or the procedure can cause serious damage to the health and appearance of the person. If the client's health deteriorates during the procedure (e.g. burn, allergic reaction, seizure, etc.), the specialist must be able to provide appropriate medical assistance. The medical institution pays an annual medical risk fund payment for medical personnel every year. Patients can claim compensation from the funds of the Medical Treatment Risk Fund if their life or health has been harmed and they want to receive compensation for expenses related to medical treatment.
DEVICE SAFETY
Is the device CE (Conformité Européenne) marked according to the medical device standard?
Is there an annual safety inspection sticker on the device?
Enter the name of the device in the Internet search engine to verify the reliability of the device and the manufacturer.
Why is this important?
The safety CE marking is mandatory and is used to demonstrate that the marked equipment complies with European Union directives on health and safety or environmental protection.
If
the technical
condition of the equipment is not properly inspected,
the health of both you and the person performing the procedure is at
risk.
Relying on a device whose origin cannot be verified, or
the manufacturer does not inspire confidence, you risk, at best, an
unsatisfactory result of the procedure and unnecessary expenses, at
worst, your health and appearance.
SAFETY MEASURES DURING THE PROCEDURE
Does the specialist who performs the procedure provide the client with safety equipment and also use it himself? Protective equipment during laser hair removal: special safety goggles, which are different for different types of laser.
Does the specialist make medical records in the client's record system or medical record card?
Why is this important?
The laser beam can cause permanent damage to the eyes if the necessary safety precautions are not followed during the procedure. Laser hair removal is a dermatological procedure, the course of which must be documented.
SETTLEMENT
Do you receive a check or other appropriate payment document when paying for the service?
Why is this important?
The payment document is proof of receipt of the service. If the procedure has caused damage to your health, you will be able to prove it and apply to the Health Inspectorate to have compensation paid out from the Medical Treatment Risk Fund.
Before you trust someone with your beauty and health, before you visit dubious beauty "clinics" or a suspiciously cheap laser hair removal salon, CHECK!
